LAHORE -Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that work will be carried out speedily on the project of setting up two coal power plants of 660 megawatt each in Sahiwal and Punjab government has constituted a project team for this purpose. He expressed the hope that this energy project of 1320 megawatt will attract investment to the tune of Rs 150 billion that would go to generate a great number of job opportunities. He said the project will be completed in two and a half years as part of the solid strategy of the government to cope with the problem of energy shortage and generation of electricity through coal.
The Chief Minister said this while presiding over a high-level meeting which reviewed the progress on two coal power plants project of 660mw each in Sahiwal. Shahbaz Sharif said that agreement of two coal power project in Sahiwal has been given final shape with a consortium of Chinese companies while feasibility report of the power plants has been prepared. He said that this project will usher in a new era of development and prosperity of the area. Shahbaz Sharif also constituted a cabinet committee to review progress and other matters relating to the project.
