Rs52b allocated for Dasu hydropower project

ISLAMABAD (Online): The Government is focusing on developing additional resources of energy to overcome energy shortage in the country, state media reported on Sunday. For this purpose, it will invest Rs248 billion on different power projects during the next financial year. According to official sources, Rs52 billion have been allocated for Stage 1 of Dasu Hydropower Project which will produce 2160 MW of electricity, Rs21 billion have been earmarked for land acquisition and construction of Lot one to five for Diamer-Bhasha Dam and Hydropower Project.
Rs11 billion will be spent on Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project having a capacity of 969 MW, Rs11 billion on Tarbela-IV Extension Hydropower Project with a capacity of 1410 MW and Rs5 billion have been set aside for up-gradation of Guddu Power Project having a capacity of 747 MW of highly economical power.
