Lahore-Federal Minister for Commerce Mr. Khurram Dastagir Khan has said that trade with India has been opened for the last 26 months but no negative impact on the economy was witnessed. He said that Pakistani products are competitive all over the world while we are endeavoring to further focus on this sector to help exporters gain more worth in their businesses. He said that the present government is focusing to uplift the economic sector and is making all out efforts to foster economic prosperity in the country. With the completion of the ongoing energy sector projects in due course of time will help in expediting the economic pace. Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastagir Khan stated this while addressing the oath taking ceremony of Leja held at Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) here on Saturday. The Minister talked about the country’s current trade situation in perspective of the global trade scenario. “The economic indicators are positive and the economic scale is moving on the right direction”, the minister asserted and hoped that the country’s trade stature will be enhanced under the premier flagship of the present government. The Minister said that the grant of GSP + status by EU to Pakistan has been a great success of the present government and our exporters have the opportunity to explore the markets of the European countries.
Addressing the ceremony Director General Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Sher Afgan Khan talked about the importance of trade in light of the current global trade scenario and asserted that the commerce reporter and TDAP both are working for the same cause to boost of this sector.
In his speech, President Ashraf Mehtab highlighted the working and aim of Leja. He dilated on the role of media men and apprised the participants about Association liaison with different trade organizations. Earlier, Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastagir khan administered oath to the LEJA members. Later, question answer session was held.
