No CNG loadshedding

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The SNGPL will not suspend gas supply to CNG stations during the next week from Monday to Sunday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. According to CNG Association, new plan would be issued after Eid, given annual maintenance of Qadirpur Gas field, which produces 450 million cubic feet gas per day and accounts for about 10 percent of the country's natural gas output. Recently, the SNGPL announced a schedule for CNG filling stations in Potohar region and different cities of Punjab province, reducing gas loadshedding to two days in a week.Presently, the gas supply to CNG filling stations remains suspended for two days instead of three days. In Potohar region, Bahawalpur and Faisalabad the supply is suspended on Thursdays and Fridays, while in Lahore, Multan, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala, gas supply is cut on Mondays and Tuesdays. The Association had demanded of the govt to end loadshedding for filling stations in order to extend relief to the masses in Ramazan. The association has conveyed to the concerned authorities that it had been facing immense pressure from all the CNG station owners in Punjab to end the three days gas load management as it was badly affecting business. Thus, the association said the government was needed to review the mandatory closure of CNG to filling stations and give relief to the consumers in the holy month of Ramazan. The association had assured if the government considered the association's appeal, the latter would fully cooperate to pass on full relief to the masses. The association is of the view the usage of CNG lowered in Ramazan due to less activity and mobilization and normal life routine changed. Similarly, due to the Iftar, Taraveeh and Sehri, most of the people stay at home and dont not use vehicles. So, the consumption and demand of CNG remained low, helped to make gas load management easier. Due to gas loashedding by SNGPL, the people lined up for refilling their vehicles, braving the extreme weather conditions during the holy month. The association said it had always tried to resolve problems through negotiations. It was of the view the closure of the CNG sector which was consuming around 7.2 percent of the gas could not help overcome the energy crisis and these loadshedding measures were tantamount to taking away right of inexpensive mode of transportation. It said those persons who were advising policy-makers to raise prices of the CNG consumed by around 4 million vehicles in no way were serving the citizens of the country. It is of the view the CNG sector had been providing inexpensive mode of transportation to the people and the sector needed further promotion.
