Rawalpindi : Excise and Taxation Department (ETD) is all set to launch special drive against the defaulters of token tax of vehicles across the division after 31st January, the deadline fixed to give rebate to vehicle owners by provincial government. ETD Director Rawalpindi Shakeel-ur-Rehman Khan expressed these views while talking to the media here on Thursday. Khan said that Punjab government has given January 31, 2014 the deadline for registration of vehicles and ETD had constituted special teams to check the vehicles plying on roads. He said the all the vehicles whose owners had not yet paid token tax would be impounded during the special drive.
He also informed that SMS service has been introduced to verify the details of vehicles and owners could get up-to-date information about payment of token tax by forwarding registration number of vehicles at 9966. ETD Director said this initiative has been taken on the directives of Secretary Excise and Taxation Khalid Masood Chaudhry and Director General Excise and Taxation Nasim Sadiq.
