PESHAWAR - Girls students outshined boys in the intermediate examination, as the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar announced FA/FSc annual examination results for the session 2014, here on Wednesday. 
The girls students of Jinnah College for Women (JCW) University of Peshawar clinched all the top three positions in the intermediate examination. According to BISE official results, Hibba Noor Vardag of pre-medical group secured first position by taking 997 marks out of 1,100, Hira Motasim got second with 996 marks, while the third top position shared by Mehr and Nazeen Liaquat by securing 994 marks.
Chairman, BISE Peshawar Prof Dr. Muhammad Shafi Afridi while announcing the result, said a total of 47,417 students appeared in the examination out of which 35,254 were declared successful with passing percentage of 74.35.
In this connection, a results announcement ceremony held at the BISEP, which was also attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Qaisar Alam, Secretary BISEP Hakimullah, renowned Pashto writer, poet, and academician Abaseen Yousafzai and principals of colleges, top position holders and their parents.
In Pre-Engineering Group, Muhammad Yasir of Islamia College Peshawar obtained first position by securing 973 marks out of 1,100, Noor-ul-Ain of Peshawar Model Degree College secured second position with 969 marks, and Adil Bashir of Islamia College Peshawar got third by securing 966 marks.
In General Science Group, Hira Farooq of Jinnah College for Women Peshawar got first position by obtaining 937 marks, Aleena Munir of the Jinnah College for Women Peshawar and Hamas Ahmad from Islamia College Peshawar share second position by securing equal marks of 908, while Iftikhar Uddin of Islamia College Peshawar obtained third position with 891 marks.
All three top positions in Humanities Group also secured by students of Jinnah College for Women, as Mina Rehman of Jinnah College secured first position with 905 marks, Ayesha Aftab stood second by securing 901 marks while Khudaija Ashfaq Ahmad secured third position by obtaining 865 marks. In Theology Group, Hamza Farhat of Islamia College Peshawar got first position by securing 829 marks.
According to results, in Pre-Medical Group, around 12,867 students were appeared out of which 11,758 passed with 91.38 per cent. A total of 8,289 students attended the examination, in which 7,516 were declared successful with percentage of 90.67.
Similarly, in General Science Group, as many as 3,657 students were appeared in the examination, out of which 2,750 passed with passing percentage 75.18. In Humanities Group, a total of 21,942 students were attended exam, out of which 13,043 passed with 59.44 per cent. Likewise, in Theology Group, a total of 160 students attended examination out of which 92 declared successful with passing percentage of 57.50.
Qaiser Alam, Secretary Elementary & Secondary Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while during speech especially mentioning about linkage of award list from secrecy, said the department has immediate suspended three officials, including controller of examination, assistant secretary and secrecy in-charge. He further informed that a committee was also constituted in this regard, which will submit its report with next three to four days.
He said the department would take further action in light of inquiry report against those officials involved in this secrecy documents linkage. He assured the parents and students that the missing award list was nothing to do with their examination results and no can misuse it as it was completely secured. 
Dr Shafi Afridi, while speaking on the occasion, said the BISEP has initiated a number of reforms for brining improvement in examination system by introduction of online enrolment and registration. He further added that effective steps are being taken to eliminate the culture of cheating in examination and the board and provincial education department are on the same page in this regard. “We will bring further reforms in the examination system in the future as well,” Dr Shafi said. He congratulated top position holders and their parents.
Later on, Qaisar Alam distributed cash prizes, shields and gifts among the top position holders.
