Kellie Pickler picks up first-ever Chris Kyle Patriot Award

Nashville: Kellie Pickler is an eight-time performer for the USO tours, entertaining the troops abroad and across the nation.
And for her volunteerism, the 28-year-old country singer was presented with the first-ever Chris Kyle Patriot Award at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville on Saturday night.
The Feeling Tonight hitmaker received the accolade - previously called the Operation Troop Aid Patriot Award - in honour of Chris Kyle, the Navy Seal depicted by Bradley Cooper in the blockbuster American Sniper.
For her big night, Kellie chose to wear a halter top style lace black dress that showed off her toned arms and petite frame.–MOL
The American Idol alum had her blonde tresses in loose curls with a deep side part looking every bit glamorous.
Before being handed the award, retired navy veteran and Operations Troop Aid founder Mark Woods called Kellie 'an awesome representation of America.'
The honour - renamed this year in honour of Kyle - is given to musicians that go above and beyond to support the troops.
Kellie was given the award by Chris' parents Wayne and Debbie Kyle. Most famously Chris' life story was told in the Clint Eastwood-directed Oscar nominated film American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller.
Back in May when it was announced that she was chosen as the recipient, the Dancing With The Stars champion revealed her reaction to the news with Rolling Stone.
'I think it will be by far the most incredible thing I've been able to be a part of in my career, absolutely. We have worked with the USO for years and it's something that means so much to me,' Kellie said.
'I just think it's so important that our servicemen and women and our veterans and their families know that what they do, we don’t take for granted.' Also at the CMA fest were performers Wynonna Judd and Brooke Hogan.
