Fashion extravaganza at PFDC fashion week concludes

The fashion showcase at Pakistan Fashion and Design Council’s Sunsilk Fashion Week 2016 concluded on a high note. The fashion literati as well as market-goers were shown the new fashion trends in terms of clothing, hair styles or shoe wear designs in the premier fashion event of Pakistan.
Ninth PSFW16 culminated with a ray of hope that Pakistani designers are no less than international designers, who now have global fashion exposure and are presenting the designs and trends keeping in the view the local traditions and the international styles. It was the fusion of east meets west in terms of cuts and designs. The last day of the fashion extravaganza at Expo Centre was ruled by top designer Deepak Perwani ,who introduced his latest collection on the ramp titled ‘The Return of the DPhilosophy’ inspired by the modern Pakistani woman in the background of Indian music which proved to be a treat for the audience.
The other designer who was hugely applauded in this fashion week was Zara Shahjahan, Sana Safinaz, Feeha Jamshed, Maria B, Sublime by Sara, Nomi Ansari, Ali Zeeshan, Sana Maskatiya, Mahagul, Nickie Nina and Karma Pink. And last but not the least king of couture the HSY who had the audience tapping their feet and clapping in appreciation. Day 4 featured high street fashion shows by the MBM, HSY Limited, Shirin Hassan and Sobia Nazir and a designer prêt-à-porter show by Deepak Perwani followed by voile shows featuring Alkaram, Khas, Warda Prints, House of Ittehad, Harmony by Hang Ten and Gul Ahmed.
Pakistani fashion industry after many years have teamed up and joined hands to promote the fashion industry. And, in continuation of their support for the platform, Bank Alfalah’s Rising Talent programme was won by Ghulam Dastgir. He will get an opportunity to stock up designs at the PFDC stores for six months. These kinds of platforms much needed for the young and emerging talent who needs opportunity to showcase their talent.
Fashion fiesta ended on the point that there is no saturation in the fashion industry and it will further grow by leaps and bounds. The tenth edition is expected to streamline more emerging talent while highlight the strides made by experienced designers.
Chairperson of PFDC Council Shyr Saigol said at the heart of PSFW was their commitment to present the trends and looks for the season ahead. “We are delighted to have presented such a diverse line up this year of Pakistan’s most anticipated brands across four days of shows. At the PFDC, we are equally happy to have expanded our business vision to bring to the industry the PFDC Fashion Active.
The event does not become successful except seasoned and experience of the PFDC’s executive council, event production, modelling and choreography teams, fashion styling expertise, photography, collection editing services and a panel of fashion and business experts which produced fashion content for brands; a complete fashion experience as it were.” said Sehyr.

Deepak Perwani

Deepak Perwani showcased a collection titled ‘The Return of the DPhilosophy’. Inspired by the modern Pakistani woman, the collection featured Silks, chiffons chamois, rawsilk with cuts that are modern keeping the contemporary fashionable Pakistani woman in mind. With a colour palette comprising of black, white, honey gold and a tirade of color splash, the collection featured trousers, palazzos, skirts and asymmetrical hemlines. Deepak also showcased five menswear pieces in the collection. Television and film personality Viqar Ali Khan walked the ramp as the brand’s celebrity showstopper.
