LAHORE: Bandwagon of Pakistani artistes have been going to India to work in TV and film industry there. The reverse has started. An Indian TV actor Surjit Saha will be coming to Pakistan to work in a TV play.
Nowadays the model-turned-actor Surjit plays are hits including two that are on air these days – ‘Bari Door Sey Aye Hein" and ‘Thapki Pyar Ki". The actor has been cast in Pakistani serial ‘Hum Dono’, which will have 26 episodes.
In the past Indian actors including legendry actor Naseeruddin Shah and some others have visited Pakistan and performed here in theatre. It is not the first time that Indian nationals are coming to Pakistan but the nature of visa they get usually from Directorate General of Immigration and Passports of Interior Ministry for Indian nationals is worth mentioning here.
There are usually three kinds of visa applications – visit, transit or tourist visa. Usually Indian actors and people from showbiz industry of Indian TV and film industry get visit visa and they also perform various professional engagements and keep their trip in low-key to avoid unnecessary trouble. It is now too early to say whether the Indian actor would get visa and clearance to perform in Hum Dono TV play from authorities.
“Surjit liked the script and said that he would love to act in the play whose shooting would be held in Lahore,” Suraj Baba the writer of the play told The Nation.
Suraj said Surjit had heard a lot about the Lahore’s delicious food and was excited to come to Lahore.
The play ‘Hum Dono’ would be a co production between India and Pakistan. He said that Surjit told him about the popularity of Pakistani dramas in India.
Surjit Saha was born in Kolkata and is Bengali by origin. He is known for playing the character AgentQ in Badi Door Se Aaye Hai on SAB TV.
