Gilani calls for shutdown on Modi's visit to occupied Kashmir

Srinagar- Veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani has called for complete shutdown and peaceful demonstration in the Indian-held Jammu Kashmir Thursday, to protest against the visit of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

NarendraModi had tweeted on Tuesday that he would spend Diwali a Hindu festival in Srinagar, KMS reported. Talking to journalists in Srinagar, the spokesman of Syed Ali Gilani's forum Ayaz Akbar said that the government of India acted as a mute spectator when the floods hit Jammu Kashmir and later did nothing to mitigate the sufferings of the affected.

He further said “we are under the forced occupation of India, we will not allow anyone to rub salt on our wounds.” “Another reason for calling the strike is the communal mindset of Modi,” he added, pointing out that when Modi did not even felicitate Muslims on Eid, his celebrating Diwali in Jammu Kashmir was unacceptable.

Muhammad Yaseen Khan, Chairman of Kashmir Economic Alliance while talking to Journalists in Srinagar said “This is all politics, nothing else. Modi should have come on Eid as this is a Muslim majority region.”
