At least 50 people, many of them women and children, were feared to have drowned after an overloaded boat capsized in eastern India, officials said Tuesday. Passengers were returning from a festival when the boat overturned in a river in the impoverished state of Bihar, local district magistrate Abhay Singh told a foreign news agency by telephone. "Rescue teams have recovered 13 bodies but nearly 40 people are still missing," he said, adding that the boat had a capacity for just 30 people.
