Cops face probe over power misuse

Wah cantt - The Anti-corruption department has started probe against five cops of Taxila police including former station house officer (SHO) for misuse of power, illegal detention, extortion and indulging an innocent man in to a drugs case by registration of fake case against him.
The scam of police gardi, in the constituency of the Federal Minister for Interior Ch Nisar Ali Khan came under spot light has stunned big wings in the police department and show the real picture of so-called reforms in police department and tall claims of good governance by present rulers. Janan Khan, a resident of Charsadda road Peshawar filed an application with anti-corruption department for getting justice and action against the cops of Taxila police for their misuse of power, illegal detention and indulging an innocent people in fake cases even after taking millions of illegal gratifications.
The applicant has mentioned in his application that on 22 Jun 2014 he came back from UAE and on 7 July, three cops of Taxila police identified as Tallat, Shahid and Ibrahaim picked him and after 15 days of severe torture and illegal detention demanded a sum of Rs 5 million for his release. He said that his brother Sher Akbar with the help of Aabid Khan, a cop of Peshawar police has bargained and paid a sum of Rs 0.45 million to than station house officer.
He said that then the investigation officer SI Sikandar Khan has booked him in fake chars recovery case and sent him behind bars. He said that after long judicial struggle, he succeeds to get liberty from jail and submitted the case to Anti corruption department.
The anti corruption department after registration of a case started investigation. In this connection constable Shahid was also arrested in raid conducted by constable Shahid.
It may be recalled here that almost one year has passed, the family of a man named Hameed Khan disappeared after being taken in to custody by Taxila police on July 6, 2004 has failed to get any whereabouts either he is died or alive. No action was taken against the cop involved in kidnapping, illegal detention and his mysterious disappearance from police custody.
A man Awal Khan, who was along the man in detention, has claimed that he has succumbed to torture but his body has not recovered so far.
