Nisar inaugurates Islamabad Safe City Project

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has said certain vested groups and countries are out to sabotage China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.     

Inaugurating Islamabad Safe City Project in the capital today, he however said no power can undermine this mega project as people of two countries, their civilian and military leadership are committed to take it forward.

He said the CPEC is no longer a dream but is turning into a reality. He said both China and Pakistan are long standing friends and their destinies are intertwined.

He also said Islamabad safe city project costing 126 million rupees the first of its kind was need of the hour.

It will serve as a role model for other parts of the countries and will be replicated in other cities.

Earlier, addressing passing out parade of police officers in Islamabad, he said overall security situation has improved in the country over the last three years.            

He said incidents of terrorism have witnessed a visible decline. The credit for this goes to security and intelligence agencies of the country.

He said eradication of terrorism will bring progress and prosperity to the region whereas the security officers are also ready to face any challenge.

The Interior Minister said recruitment in police department are being made on merit and vowed to ensure the same in recruitment for Rapid Response Force as well.

The passing-out cadets including women corporals gave guard of honor to the chief guest while they also displayed astonishing march.

Interior minister also inspected the whole parade on a jeep.

On the occasion, Chaudhry Nisar handed over the keys of as many as 170 cars imported from China and water cannon brought from America to the law enforcement agencies.

Moreover, the passing-out cadets were also given prizes and shields.

Meanwhile, talking to media, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali confirmed that Pakistan has decided to deny consular access to detained Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav.

Yadav, a serving Indian naval officer, was arrested in March this year while entering Balochistan from Iran.

According to civilian and military officials, Yadav was involved in subversive activities. He was linked to separatist elements in Balochistan, as well as involved in acts of sectarian terrorism and terror attacks in Karachi.

In a confessional video statement, the Indian spy said that he was fanning militancy and sectarianism in Pakistan on behalf on Indian spy agency RAW.

“We have decided not to grant consular access to the Indian agents.”

“Kulbhushan is an Indian agent, who came to Pakistan with ulterior motives,” he said.

To a question, he said that NADRA had blocked more than 250, 000 computerized national identity cards (CNICs).

“We have also blocked 29, 00 fake passports. The verification process will complete in six months,” he added.
