‘PPP believes in supremacy of Parliament’





ISLAMABAD  - Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) believed in the supremacy of Parliament.
Talking to Pakistan Television channel,he said that President Asif Ali Zardari had transferred powers to the Parliament to stabilise the democratic process in the country.
He said the restoration of 1973 Constitution in its original form was the biggest ever achievement of the PPP government. Replying to a question, he said that the PPP believed in strong democratic system and institutions and urged the opposition to work for strengthening democracy. He said that the PPP had gave the rights to the provinces through 7th NFC Award and 18th Constitutional Amendment. He said, “We will not allow damaging cause of democracy and self-respect of the people.” Replying to another question,he said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) did not believe in the clash of institutions.
He said that only the PPP-led coalition government could ensure the sanctity of the Constitution.
