RAWALPINDI – Nepal government and its business community want to enhance bilateral trade relations with Pakistan and both the countries must take some solid steps to promote trade relations in every field.
“Rawalpindi Chamber is playing pivotal role for the endorsement of bilateral trade relations and have organised three successful single countries exhibitions in Nepal. The embassy will support every effort which will be made in this regard,” said Ambassador of Nepal Bharat Raj Paudyal in a meeting with the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Manzar Khurshid Sheikh during his visits to the Chamber on Monday
RCCI Senior Vice President Pervaiz Ahmed Warriach, Vice President Chaudhry Nadeem Rauf, group leader Najamul Haq Malik, former presidents, members executive committee and other members of the chamber were also present the occasion.
The ambassador said that tourism and agriculture were the main sectors in which both countries could generate revenue. He invited the President RCCI to join Nepal International Expo which was going to be held on 8 to 12 March, 2013. He stressed that both the countries have great potential to enhance bilateral trade volume and to achieve this business communities of both sides must play their due role.
Speaking on the occasion, President RCCI Manzar Khurshid Sheikh said that RCCI has already organised three single country expos in Kathmandu, Nepal in years 2010, 2011, 2012. He said that RCCI planned to organise 4th single country Expo in same city in September 2013. Manzar Khurshid said that despite having the best political and diplomatic relations the trade volume between the two countries was very low. He suggested that trade expos and visits of trade delegations must be enhanced between the said countries.
Meanwhile, City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi constituted special squads tasking them to take strict action against violators of No Parking space for smooth traffic flow on the city roads.
Each special squad would be comprised on four traffic warden officers while supervised by DSPs Suhail Mumtaz and Khan Zaman, duty of which would to clear all the areas from errant parking and to facilitate the road users. The special squads would also be responsible for smooth flow of traffic in the city.
These views were expressed by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah while talking to media men at Race Course Traffic Headquarter here on Monday.
He expressed concern over lack of traffic sense among city drivers. He pointed out that despite “No Parking” signage, people continued to park vehicles in the areas leading to congestion.
The CTO warned the public transport drivers and other vehicles hindering smooth movement of traffic through wrong parking vehicles or else strict action would be taken against them. He directed the special squads to lift all the wrongly parked vehicles with the help of lifters without any indiscrimination. Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah also asked the heads of special squads to report to DSP Headquarters Shahid Yusaf about their action against wrong parking on daily basis.
