Murder accused granted bail for lack of evidence

Rawalpindi  -   The Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday accepted bail pleas of two murder accused for lack of evidence against them. The court also ordered to submit surety bonds of Rs 200,000 each before the court. Those who got bails and were released include Asad Abbas and Ghulam Murtaza. They had been arrested by Police Station Chontra officials for killing a 9th class student allegedly by throwing him into a well. According to details, the court took up the murder case during which the defence counseil Shafqat Munir Advocate argued that the prosecution failed in producing any witness before the court during the trial. Therefore, the court might grant bails to his clients. The court accepted the bail pleas of the accused against surety bonds of Rs 0.2 million each.
Meanwhile, the court in a separate case termed the decision of a lower court in a double murder case null and void by issuing notices to both parties. According to details, in 2008 Mahar Iqbal and Muhammad Hanif along with five accomplices allegedly murdered Muhammad Ghufran Mehmood and Noor Muhammad apparently over old enmity.
A lower court after conducting trial acquitted all the accused from the double murder case on 30 September 2011. Later, the complainant Muhammad Abrar challenged the verdict of court with LHC Rawalpindi bench.
