PAF Air Defence Structure completely upgraded: Tanvir

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed addressed Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Senior Non Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) of Pakistan Air Force at Air Headquarters here on Tuesday   During the past years, the Air Chief visited regularly all bases and interacted separately with JCOs, SNCOs, Airmen and civilians of Pakistan Air Force for getting feed back of the implementation of polices formulated at Air Headquarters and to listen to the problems at the grassroots level. Addressing on the occasion, Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed said: "We believe in interactive dialogue among all tiers of our combat force for a common goal which enhances productivity and efficiency.   "The ultimate purpose is to make Pakistan Air Force to be lean, efficient and hard hitting air force, which is second to none as the Quaid visualised it". He mentioned the initiatives taken in various areas, such as complete overhauling of PAF Training Systems, profoundly reviewing the existing curriculum, syllabi, techniques, and methodology to prepare Pakistan Air Force Manpower for the 21st century requirements.   He also said that PAF Air Defence Structure has been completely upgraded, while outdated technologies and equipment will be replaced by the state-of-the-art aviation technologies. He further said that various odd challenges like supportability of old equipment with restricted budget can be overturned by exceptional resolute skill and will to do.  Talking about PAF training system he said that by revitalising basic training, skill enhancements programmes and qualifying examination system, PAF training system has been revolutionised. He said that the communication set up has been made more effective and up to date by introducing E-Culture.   The chief also said that various aircraft trades has been restructured as per vogue practice in many air forces of the world. He also mentioned other major steps taken for the welfare of JCOs, Airmen and civilians of PAF i.e. improvement in hospitals services, establishing Federal Fazaia School facilities, provision of more housing quarters, barracks and accommodation for men, rank restructuring of Assistant Warrant Officers in accordance with other sister services and rationalization of the promotion period. While talking about the projects in the pipeline he mentioned about the serial production of JF-17, induction of Airborne Early Warning System, F-16 C&D and surface to air missiles, radars, and ground support equipment.   He proudly said that PAF is the only Air Force in the world which is involved in manufacture of fighter aircraft, JF-17 Thunder.   Later on he mingled among the Airmen, who had come from all over Pakistan. A large number of JCOs, SNCOs and Airmen from all PAF bases and commands attended the address at the Air Headquarters, Islamabad.
