The federal government has voiced reservations on the name of Justice (retd.) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bux Palejo for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira that the government has reservations over the names of Justice retired Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bakhsh Palejo as caretaker Prime Minister.
He said Justice Zahid has an anti-PPP background will not be able to do justice with the PPP‚ as President Asif Ali Zardari was nominated in the murder of the former judge's brother-in-law.
“President Asif Ali Zardari was implicated in the murder of Justice Nizam, brother-in-law of Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid during his jail term,” he said.
He also rejected Rasool Bux Palejo’s nomination, saying Palejo’s son Latif Palejo was contesting against the PPPP in Sindh.
Kaira again termed the PML-N’s decision to propose names of Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bux Palejo as a joke.
The Minister said he is at a loss to understand the objections raised by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly over the names proposed by the Prime Minister for the slot of caretaker chief executive.
Kaira said he was hopeful that a consensus would be reached during the ongoing meeting of PM Raja with chief ministers over the matter of interim setup.
He said that Nawaz Sharif should exercise patience. The selection of caretaker PM is not a matter between two parties but between all political parties.
