Survey underway to ascertain damaged houses, properties in FATA

ISLAMABAD: A housing survey under Political Administration is underway in which 11,663 houses were reported as fully and partially damaged owing to operations against militants in South Waziristan, North Waziristan and Khyber Agencies.

The actual number would be finalized after return of all Temporarily Dislocated Persons (TDPs) and at completion of survey.

Ministry of States and Frontier Regions has informed on Thursday that FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) was providing Transport and Return Cash Grant of Rs.10,000/ and Rs.25,000/ to each NADRA verified family of FATA at time of return to its native town who fill and sign their Voluntary Return Form (VRF). The Agency Steering committees verify cases for payments, according to the ministry.

The Ministry said a summary for compensation funds in form of Citizen Losses Compensation Programme (CLCP) for FATA had already been approved by the Prime Minister in February this year and so far, funds to tune of Rs.5 billion were released to FATA Secretariat for CLCP by the Finance Division.

Finance Department, FATA Secretariat has transferred Rs.1935.44 million for 5576 houses so far as per request received from the Political Agent of South Waziristan Agency.

Similarly upon the request of Political Agent North Waziristan Agency, funds to tune of Rs.43.68 million for 210 houses have also been released to Political Agent by the Finance Department, FATA Secretariat.

A total of 81 cross cheques were distributed among beneficiaries in South Waziristan in April this year.
