300 arrested in capital

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police launched a grand search operation in the capital city on Saturday, arresting more than 300 suspects.
According to police, foreign nationals are among those rounded up in separate raids in Islamabad. Operation continues in rural and urban areas of the federal capital.
Sources say that the operation could continue for the next three days. The suspects, who were shifted to police stations, were being questioned by police.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested 19 outlaws including 11 beggars from various areas of the city and recovered 55 bottles of wine, two illicit pistols and looted items from their possession, a police spokesman said here on Saturday.
According to details, Kohsar police arrested a bootlegger Skhawat Ali and recovered 30 bottles of wine from him. Bhara Kahu police recovered one 30-bore illicit pistol along with ammunition from an accused Sheraz Baloch. Lohi Bher police recovered one 30-bore pistol from an accused Amir Hussain.
Police team also arrested a bootlegger Wajid Hussain and recovered 25 bottles of wine from him. Tarnol police arrested four accused namely Muhammad Muddasar, Muhammad Waqas, Muhammad Waseem and Naveed Akhtar for their alleged involvement in a dacoity.
Furthermore police arrested 11 beggars. Cases have been registered against these persons and further investigation is under way.
SSP Islamabad Asmat Ullah Junejo has appreciated this overall performance and directed all police officials to accelerate their efforts to curb activities of anti-social elements.
