ISLAMABAD - Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage will soon move a summary to Prime Minister for the appointment of a permanent head of Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), The Nation has learnt.
The sources said a three-member committee of the ministry headed by Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid had conducted interviews of 18 candidates for the post of Managing Director APP in last week of June and finalized three names.
“Three names were shortlisted in interviews and now a summary has been moved to PM for final approval,” said an official of the ministry.
He said that the issue of the hiring of permanent head of APP would be settled as the information minister himself had monitored the whole process.
He said that the minister wanted to get appointed a permanent MD of APP and hopefully a name would be announced in a couple of days. Two senior journalists Masood Malik and Riaz Hussain are strong candidates for this post, he added.
Riaz Hussain had performed as MD APP in the PPP’s last government.
