Role of lawyers in speedy justice vital: CJ LHC

Rawalpindi - Chief Justice Lahore High Court Manzoor Ahmed Malik has said that role of lawyers’ community is pivotal for speedy justice and lawyers should make it possible to ensure their presence in the courts for prompt disposal of under-trial cases.
He said this while talking to a delegation of Rawalpindi Bar Association led by its President G M Shah at Judicial Complex, Rawalpindi on Wednesday. Chief Justice Lahore High Court said that the our prime objective is to restore the confidence of general public and complainants on judiciary system and it could be made possible by provision of justice purely on merit basis.
He said emergent steps had been adopted to fill the vacant posts of judges so that under trail cases should be decided speedily.
He also asked lawyers to discourage culture of strikes and extend their help to ensure smooth functioning of court procedures, which would enable complainants to get justice without any delay.
During the meeting a number of matters relating to procedural improvements regarding under trail cases also came under discussion. Lawyers also discussed problems faced by the lawyers relating to their responsibilities.
 District and Sessions Judge, Rawalpindi Bahadar Ali Khan briefed Chief Justice Lahore High Court about under trail cases.
Earlier, Manzoor Ahmed Malik early in the morning visited various courts in Judicial Complex, Rawalpindi.
