Pakistan values its ties with Azerbaijan, says CJCSC

ISLAMABAD - First Pak-Azeri Working Group Level Meeting was held at Joint Staff Headquarters, Chaklala on Monday. According to ISPR, Major General Ramiz Najafov, Head of International Cooperation and Euro-Atlantic Integration Department, Azerbaijan  called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid at Joint Staff Headquarters on Monday.. Major General Ramiz Najafov is visiting Pakistan with a delegation in connection with first Pak-Azeri Working Group Level Meeting. He remained with CJCSC for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with focus on mutual cooperation, regional and global security environment.        General Tariq Majid expressed that Pakistan values close brotherly relations with Azerbaijan. Both countries are bonded in strong historical and cultural links and there is a need to translate these associations into wider economic, defence, security and political ties. There is definitely great scope to enhance military cooperation between Armed Forces of both brotherly countries in the form of exchange training visits and benefiting from each others expertise in the field of defence production, in order to move ahead in this vital area. We look forward to Azeri participation during IDEAS 2008 Defence Exhibition, next month. Later, the delegation participated in Pak-Azeri Working Group Level Meeting and decided on future modus operandi to enhance mutual defence ties.
