Gold heist at Rawalpindi jewellery shop




RAWALPINDI - Three unidentified robbers stormed into a jewellery shop and made off with 400 grams of gold at Dheri Hassanabad, the area of Police Station Civil Line, here on Saturday.
Police, on getting information, rushed to the scene and recorded the statements of the victims and had also taken up case against the robbers with no arrest so far.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) PS Civil Line Raja Shakeel, three intruders equipped with weapons entered into Al-Rahman Jewellers located at Main Dheri Hassanabad Road near 2:30pm when the security guards was having lunch.
The robbers made hostage the entire staff on gunpoint and started looting the gold ornaments weighing 6kg from the shop, he said adding that in the meanwhile the staff made noise on which the robbers got confused and managed to escape with only 400 grams of gold.
During the scuffle, the robbers also injured the security guard by hitting the handles of guns into his head, Shakeel informed. On the application, filed by shop owner, a case has been lodged against the unknown robbers while further interrogation was on, SHO stated.
Replying a query, he said that several police raiding teams have also been constituted with giving them the task to catch the robbers. On the other hand, the day light robbery created unrest among the traders community in the locality, who demanded City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher to arrest the muggers immediately and provide them (traders) with security to avoid such incidents in future.
