Promotion Board to meet after PM’s US visit

ISLAMABAD - The Promotion Board will meet in the first week of October after Prime Minister’s US visit, The Nation learnt yesterday.
The sources in Establishment Division said that a few weeks ago the Establishment Division was told by the PM office that the board meeting will take place in the last week of September and the Division had completed its preparation in this regard. However, it was delayed due to the prime minister’s foreign engagements.
The Establishment Division will issue the notification after PM’s approval.
The sources said that the Establishment Division has finalized a list of 15-16 senior bureaucrats of grade 21. A majority of officers in the list belong to Pakistan Administrative Services. They said that 10-12 officers will be promoted to grade 22 in the next board meeting and eight senior officers of grade 22 will retire by the end of this year.
Sources said that the matter of the appointment of new chairman Federal Public Services Commission (FPSC) will also be discussed in the board meeting.
Secretary to PM Javed Aslam, who will retire on November 10, is considered the strongest candidate for the post of Chairman FPSC. Sources said that the matter of two extensions in services of Secretary ECP Babar Yaqoob Fatah will also be discussed in the meeting.
Federal secretaries who are going to retire in coming months include Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry, who would retire on October 7, Secretary Education and Trainings Muhammad Imtiaz Tajwar on August 23, Member In-charge Federal Ombudsman Raeesuddin Paracha on October 26, Secretary Information Muhammad Azam on October 10, Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan Babar Yaqoob Fatah Muhammad on October 31 and Senior Joint Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination Aftab Ahmad Memon on September 11.
PM for completion of
AJK uplift projects
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharof yesterday issued directions to concerned authorities to initiate and complete projects announced during his visit to Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir earlier in this month.
These development projects included construction of expressway from Kotli Satian to Kalyari (upto Dhalkot Bridge), modern cardiac hospital at Bagh, RCC Bridge on River Jhelum at Khapadar, Dirkot, District Bagh and RCC Bridge on Nullah Maldara, District Bagh.
PAF chief briefs PM
on Badaber attack
Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman yesterday called on the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and briefed him the Badaber airbase attack.
During the meeting, the Air Chief updates the Premier on the investigation of the attack. PM Nawaz appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan Air Force and its contribution in the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation.
