Islamabad picnic spots attract visitors

ISLAMABAD - A good number of domestic tourists from different parts of the country are visiting various resorts of federal capital.
The resorts including Rawal Lake View Park, Daman-e-Koh and National Monument have become the source of attraction for such tourists. Rawal Lake Park, located on Murree road, this spacious park has been developed over Rawal Lake offering leisure and recreational opportunities for visitors.
The park has a panoramic view of Rawal Dam and have a lush green playground for the children. The folk musicians sitting in the park play different tunes representing the folk music of the country to enthral the visitors. The cooking and barbecue facility is also available at park.
Families visit the park mostly on weekend to enjoy the holiday. Daman-e-Koh a widening road through lush green Margalla hills takes visitors to this naturally cradled vantage location that offers panoraic views of the entire city.
National Monument is another place of attraction for visitors where hundreds of the people visit and view the beautiful and green land of the federal capital. The National Monument representating the nation’s four provinces and three territories, this Monument has been designed to reflect the culture and civilization of the country and depicts the story of Pakistan Movement, dedicated to those who sacrificed themselves for future generations.
Saidpur Village is another place of attraction situated to the east of Daman-e-Koh, this ancient small village has been centre of traditional pottery wares. The other picnic resorts in the federal capital include, Lok Virsa, Pir Sohawa, Shahdara, Shakarparian, Jasmine and Rose Garden, Capital Zoo, Children Park, Fatima Jinnah Park, Chattar Park, Simly Dam and Margalla Hills jogging tracks.
It may be mentioned here that Islamabad also called “the green city of the country”, was designed to be the modern capital in 1960’s. Its marvelous location touches Margalla hills at the northern end of Pothowar Plateau.
Its pleasant and lush green environment and viewpoints make it one of the most beautiful capitals of the world.
