CDA ready for anti-measles campaign

Islamabad - Health Services Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalised arrangements to conduct a special campaign for eradication of measles from Islamabad.
During the campaign, vaccination would be provided to the children of six to ten years old to protect them against the measles.
The CDA in collaboration with district administration would carry out the special drive in the federal capital. Some 260,000 children would be vaccinated during the anti-measles campaign.
According to a statement released by CDA, on the directions of ministry of national health services, regulations and coordination, the CDA and district administration would ensure vaccination to maximum children in all areas of the city.
In this regard, a meeting in line with the directions of Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal was held here at CDA headquarters. Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed, reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming anti-measles campaign made by the health services directorate.
Amer Ali Ahmed was apprised that health services directorate is fully prepared to launch the anti-measles campaign, adding that all necessary arrangements have been finalised.
Anti-measles campaign would be launched after getting green signal from district administration. Necessary training has already been imparted to the participants of the anti-measles campaign while micro-planning has also been completed for the drive.
To make vaccination campaign a success, Islamabad has been divided into ten zones and it is expected that no child in the federal capital would miss the opportunity of anti-measles vaccination. According to the director health services, the anti-measles centres would be established in the hospitals, clinics and schools of Islamabad for provision of vaccination to the children.
According to an estimate, anti-measles campaign would commence in the first week of February and would continue for 12 days. World Health Organisation (WHO) and EPI are also coordinating for the campaign. Health services directorate has already constituted teams, for vaccination to the children from all residential areas of the city.
