ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court (AC) Islamabad has handed over director foreign ministry Shafqat Cheema to NAB on physical remand for 10 days.
NAB presented Cheema in the AC on completion of 12 days physical remand on Monday. The NAB prosecutor while requesting the court to extend the physical remand of Cheema said elephant ivory and other goods have been recovered from the accused and more plots and benami property have to be detected.
Defence counsel while opposing further physical remand of Cheema said no opportunity has been given to his client for plea bargain under NAB ordinance. His client was not at fault and he wanted to go for plea bargain, he added.
He further pleaded that his client was a heart patient, therefore, medical board should be constituted for his check-up
The court extend remand of the accused for further 10 days remand besides issuing directives for setting up a medical board for check up of the accused.
