Malik sees ‘third force’ behind unrest

KARACHI - Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has expressed his resentment over, what he called, misreporting of facts about law and order in Karachi.
Speaking to the media after a meeting on Monday, Malik said there was no incident of target killing on Sunday but the media had reported six incidents of targeted killing in Karachi. Malik said these deaths were natural or due to personal enmities and accidents.
He said a system has been set up where the reporters can reach the authorities concerned to find out the cause of any incident.
He said Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan and police officials are always available to confirm the cause of any incident if they are not available, then there is Crisis Management Cell that works round the clock.
He said airing of an incorrect report, like that of a target killing, can cause further tensions among people.
He urged the Pemra to issue show-cause notices to TV channel owners “for misreporting”.
He made a request for airing correct reports to avert sensation. Malik ruled out the MQM and ANP’s involvement in the recent violence in Karachi, saying that there was no confrontation between ANP and MQM.
He added that ‘third force’ was involved in the recent violence in Karachi. “Political forces are united for the action against criminals in Karachi.”
To a question, he said the government would not comprise on the national security.
