KARACHI - At least three people including a relative of the notorious Lyari gangster and a member of the Kutchi Rabita Committee were gunned down in separate acts of target killings while police have recovered two bodies. A KRC member identified as Younus Masih was gunned down near Native Jetty Bridge within the precincts of Jackson police station. SHO Mushtaq Shah informed that unidentified pillion riders opened targeted firing on a motorcyclist who was identified as 24-year-old Younis Katchi, son of Abu Baker Katchi, near Native Jative Bridge. Resultantly, he sustained three fatal bullet wounds and was immediately taken to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medical treatment, where doctors pronounced him dead. He said deceased lived in Jumma Baloch Road New Kalri, Lyari and was unmarried. The victim was affiliated with transport business. Younis was the younger brother of President Katchi Memon Community and joint unit in charge of KRC. He said that victim had some dispute with Lyari warfare and police suspected that Lyari gangsters were behind the killing.Following the killing of Younus Katchi, residents of took to streets and blocked Maripur, demanding earlier arrest of accused involved in murder. The protesters chanted slogans, burnt tyres and threw stones on the vehicles due to which massive gridlock witnessed at Maripur road and other thoroughfares linked with Maripur area. Meanwhile, KRC announced to end the protest after getting assurance from police authorities that accused would be brought before justice as early as possible.Police have found the body of the young man from Siddiq Wahab Road within the limits of Garden police station. The body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi where he was identified as Akhtar, 32, son of Ghulam Rasool. Police officials said that deceased was the brother-in-law of the slain Lyari gangster Rehman Dakait’s closed aide Nazeer Bala. Nazeer and two more of his companions and Rehman Dakait were killed in an alleged encounter on August 2009 during an alleged encounter with the SSP Chaudhry Aslam Khan at Link Road, Kathore. As Akhtar’s body reached Lyari, scores of people gathered near Cheel Chowk and staged a protest against his killing and demanded law enforcers to arrest the culprits. Protestors also set tyres on road and blocked the flow of traffic. In reaction of his killing, unidentified culprits gunned down a milk shop owner in Usmanabad area within the vicinity of Garden police station. Police officials informed that victim Qasim 35, son of Ghulam Sarwar, was sitting in his milk shop when armed riders came and opened indiscriminate firing on him. Resultantly, Qasim received multiple bullets and died instantly. The body was shifted to CHK for medico-legal-formalities. He said that deceased was father of three children and resident of the same area.A handcuff 14-day-old decomposed body of a man was recovered from Lyari Naddi within the jurisdiction of Pak colony police station. Police said that locals of the area informed police that a body packed in gunny bag was lying in the bank of Lyari lake. After getting the report police party rushed at the spot and shifted the body to CHK for an autopsy. The body was moved to morgue for identification.
