Sindhi Culture Day celebrated

Karachi - Sindh Culture Day was celebrated across Sindh on Saturday with different organisations holding events, highlighting cultural heritage of the province, mainly its traditional dresses like Sindhi Topi (cap) and Ajrak. It is pertinent to inform that this day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of December.

Political, social and religious organisations, besides the Sindh culture department, administrations of various schools, colleges and universities have announced a variety of events, including seminars, debates, folk music programmes, dramas and literary sittings to mark this day, introduced in 2009.

Sindh Taraqqi-Pasand Party, Awami Tehreek, Awami Jamhoori Party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz-Bashir, Jeay Sindh Qaum Parast Party-Bhatti, Sindh United Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, National People’s Party, Sindh Hari Committee, Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Sindh National Party, Hindu Panchayat, Sindhi Sahafi Sangat and others also held different programmes to celebrate the day.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Advisor to Sindh CM on Information Maula Bux Chandio said that PPP celebrated Sindh Culture Day in Lahore with all enthusiasm under the leadership of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

“We will share love with the people of Punjab and the message of love and peace will travel from Sindh to Punjab,” he said.

He said that Sindh Culture Day would not only be observed in Sindh but it will be celebrated in all the provinces of Pakistan in a traditional style in order to promote the culture of Sindh.

He said that Sindh was the land of peace and Sufis who always preached peace, tolerance and unity. He said that the Sindh government was committed to promoting culture of Sindh by all means.
