BDS defuses another bomb in Karachi

KARACHI  - Bomb Disposal Squad experts defused a roadside bomb planted in the neighborhood of Orangi Town here on Friday.
This was the third consecutive attempt foiled by the BDS experts in the current month.
Earlier, two bombs were defused by the BDS experts. Those bombs were planted near the Friday Bazaar in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Ziauddin Hospital in Clifton.
This time, the bomb was found outside the residential building in Orangi Town’s MPR Colony. After finding the suspicious material, the occupants of the building immediately informed the police. Law enforcers reached the site and get vacated the building before calling the BDS experts to defuse it.
The BDS experts said the remote control bomb weighed around two kilogramme and it also contained ball bearings. “A circuit to help explode it with the heat of sun rays was also attached with the bomb which was really new for us,” they explained.
Interestingly, the law enforcers have failed to arrest any of the culprits behind the series of bombs’ plantation in different localities of the City. “Exactly nothing could say about the group/groups and the motive until the investigation is completed,” said Orangi division SP Malik Ehsan. He said a case had been registered.
Meanwhile, the offices of the Deputy Commissioner of District West and MD Site were evacuated over the bomb hoax. The BDS experts cleared the building after the efforts of one hour. DSP Sohrab Meo said the offices were evacuated after an anonymous caller made a phone call to the office of the MD Site and warned about planting a bomb at the office. He said though it was a bomb hoax, the police had initiated further investigation.
