KARACHI - President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday, on the advice of the prime minister, approved conferment of Quaid-e-Azam Police Medals and President's Police Medals.
The medals have been announced in connection with the country's Independence Day on August 14.
The personnel of Punjab Police who have been awarded Quaid-e-Azam Police medals include Head Constable Allah Ditta No 1195 (Shaheed), Constable Asif Nadeem No 22015 (Shaheed); Constable Shahbaz Khan, No 10699 (Shaheed); Constable Muhammad Hussain, No 569 (Shaheed); Inspector Tabassum Hussain Virk, No B/162 (Shaheed); Jawad Qamar, ASP/SDPO, Gulberg Circle Lahore; Akbar Nasir Khan SP; Muhammad Younas, Inspector, Faisalabad; Inspector, Umer Daraz, Faisalabad; and Javed Anwar, Constable, Faisalabad.
The personnel of Punjab Police who have been awarded the President’s Police Medals are Constable Sarfraz Ahmad, No 172 (Shaheed); Constable Dawood Ahmad, No 218 (Shaheed), Constable Shahzad Ahmad No 1946 (Shaheed); Sl Niaz Ali No 76; and Constable Tahir Mehmood, No 1026.
The police personnel of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa awarded Quaid-e-Azam Police Medals are Khurshid Khan, DSP, (Shaheed); Hilal-e-Haider, SP (Shaheed); Inspector Sattar Khan Khattak, (Shaheed); Inspector Apeel Khan, (Shaheed); Sl Imam Hassan, (Shaheed); Sl Khushdil Khan, (Shaheed); Sl Ismail Khan, (Shaheed); Constable Imran Ullah, No 1941, (Shaheed); Constable Bashir Khan, No 1284, (Shaheed); Constable Zia-ud-Din, No 1034, (Shaheed); Constable Muhammad Ismail, No 465, (Shaheed); and Constable Sareer, No 1332, (Shaheed).

The personnel of Islamabad Police who have been awarded Quaid-e-Azam Police Medals are ASI Muhammad Asghar Abbasi, (Shaheed) and Constable Imtiaz Sadiq, No 4496.
The personnel of Islamabad Police who have been awarded President’s Police Medals are ASI Sher Muhammad, PS Tarnol; ASI Muhammad Akbar and Constable Muhammad Ramzan, No 6714.
Constable Imran Khan, No 157, (Shaheed) and Constable Sohail Mehmood, No 409, (Shaheed) of Pakistan Railways have been awarded Quaid-e-Azam Police Medals.
In Balochistan, those awarded Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal are Muhammad Jameel Kakar, DSP Investigation, (Shaheed); Ameer Muhammad Dasti, DSP (Shaheed); Shah Nawaz, SP/CID (Shaheed), Syed Arif Ali Shah, IP/Investigation, (Shaheed), Sangeen Khan, ASI (Shaheed); Rajab Ali, Constable (Shaheed) and Constable Muhammad Akber.
The police personnel in Balochistan who have been awarded President’s Police Medal are Sanaullah, Constable (Shaheed); Ghulam Murtaza, Constable (Shaheed); Muhammad Riaz, Constable (Shaheed); and Muhammad Manzoor Elahi, ASI (Shaheed).
National civil awards for eminent personalities: President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of the prime minister, has also approved conferment of National Civil Awards upon eminent personalities in various disciplines.
Irfan Siddiqui, (columnist), Hilal-i-Imtiaz; Muhammad Ashiq Chaudhry, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Azhar Hussain Jafri, (photo journalist), President’ Award for Pride of Performance, Ceicil Chaudhry (r) PAF officer and human rights activist, President’s Award for Pride of Performance, Nazir Leghari (journalist), President’s Award for Pride of Performance, Munir Hussain late (former cricket commentator/journalist), President’s Award for Pride of Performance (Posthumous).
Arts, Literature and Sports: President's Award for Pride of Performance has been approved for Shahid Abdullah, Art & Design; and Ustad Shafiq-uz-Zaman Khan, Art/Calligraphy.
Tamgha-i-Imtiaz has been approved for Ms Musarrat Mirza, Arts (Painter, Art Education); Ustad Nazir Gull, Arts (Musician, Music Composer and Director); Ms Nijat Bibi, Arts (Hunza Embroidery); Raja Bhai Jan, Music (Instrumental); Mian Ghulam Muhammad Jhandir, Collection & Preservation of National Heritage; and Qamar Ali Brohi, Folk Dancer.
Tamgha-i-Khidmat has been approved for Ms Park Kyo Soon (Esther), Art & Culture, Hilal-i-Imtiaz for Zafar Iqbal, Literature, Sitara-i-Imtiaz for Shehzad Ahmad Late, Literature; and Dr Tariq Rahman, Literature.
President’s Award for Pride of Performance has been approved for Prof. Dr Tabbasum Kashmiri, Literature; Agha Saleem (Agha Khalid Saleem), Literature; Prof Wali Muhammad Khan Siyal Kakar, Literature; and Younus Javaid, Literature; Ali Muhammadi Khorasani, Literature, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for Prof Qalander Shah Lakyari, Literature; Prof Dr Nazeer Tabassum, Literature; Ghaus Bakhsh Sabir, Literature; Afzal Murad, Literature.
Journalism: Tamgha-i-Pakistan has been approved for Ms Zhao Qiao in the category of Journalism.
Gallantry: Sitara-i-Shujaat has been approved for Ms Samia Noreen Shaheed (Gallantry) and Abdul Mansoor Kakar Shaheed (Gallantry).
