SA passed 113 bills in five years

KARACHI - The lawmakers of Sindh Assembly in its farewell sitting on Friday expressed pride of being member of the legislature which is completing its five year constitutional term.
Addressing the Sindh Assembly on Friday, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah applauded the role of PPP, MQM, NPP, PML-F, PML-Likeminded, NPP and ANP lawmakers, whose cooperation, dedication, magnanimity and unanimity paved the way for completing the five year term of the government.
It was difficult to complete the term without reconciliation of all the parties initiated by President Asif Ali Zardari, which paved the way government stayed for five years, Sindh Chief Minister said.
Shah praised the role of the Speaker of Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro for running the proceedings of the Assembly smoothly.
Referring the judiciary and election commission, Sindh Chief Minister said the functions of the every institution are defined in the constitution, so we should restrict our jurisdiction and respect the constitution.
Sindh Chief Minister also announced two months’ extra salary for the employees of Sindh Assembly secretariat, Law and Finance Departments, who worked very hard for five years.
Shah said that decision on the same day of elections and dissolution of Assemblies would be taken today in Islamabad as he is also leaving there to attend a high level meeting at capital.
Later, Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that today could be last sitting of the Assembly, expressing gratitude of all MPAs for their participation and cooperation of Assembly
Speaker said that parliamentary democracy is the key for the development and solution of the country.
He said that Sindh Assembly is the first legislature which allowed live coverage, praising the media, which according to him it played role of eye on the Assembly during the five years.
Speaker said that we have performed well and going back with performance to the masses for fresh mandate.
He also praised the role of the women lawmakers who took active part in the assembly’s proceedings.
Pir Mazhar of PPP, Law Minister Ayaz Soomro and others also expressed their views and congratulated each other accommodating and playing positive role in the Assembly.
The words of remorse were also witnessed in the house when law minister whole house said he apologized if any one got dishearted with his words in five years. The PPP lawmakers came with flags of party and remembered party’s Shaheed leader Benazir Bhutto.
Besides, Anwar Mahar of ruling PPP memorized the poetry of Shah Latif relating it with farewell of Assembly lawmakers.
Earlier, house passed a private bill “Sindh Protection of Communal Properties of Minorities Bill 2012”, moved by the Saleem Khurshid Khokhar of ruling PPP.
He said that purpose of this bill is to stop the builder mafia and their cronies, who lure the people to sell, alienate, transfer and lease the properties of the Religious Minorities in the name of Development and other such excuse.
The house also passed another bill “Sindh Industrial Relation Bill 2013” to regulate formation of trade union and trade union activities, relation between employer and workmen and the avoidance and settlement of any difference or dispute arising between them and ancillary matters. 
The decision on a privilege motion moved by the Saleem Khurshid Khokhar of ruling against his party’s provincial minister for minority affairs Dr Mohan Lal could not be taken up due want of time.
Meanwhile, The Nation learnt that the sitting Assembly has passed a total of 113 bills into law during the five years. The Assembly in its last year met for 69 days in six sessions held.
