Karachi violence claims 12 lives

KARACHI - Unabated targeted killing continues which claimed 12 precious lives in various areas of Karachi on Thursday.
Police found three blindfolded dead bodies from a nullah near truck stand in Mauripur area adjacent to Lyari.
The bodies were shifted to morgue after autopsy where the victims were identified as Idrees Ayub, 23, Waqar Aziz, 22 and Feroz Younus, 23. Their hands and legs were tied with the ropes and the bodies were placed in the gunny bags.
Police said the victims were friends and the residents of Kalakot, Lyari. They were abducted four days ago. They also faced torture before shot once in their heads. Police suspected Lyari gangsters’ involvement behind the incident.
Similarly, three friends associated with the Jamaat-e-Islami were killed in an armed attack at Sector 7-D within the jurisdictions of Surjani police station. Police officials said Ashraf Salam and Akhtar Ansari died on the spot while Suleman alias Sunny, 26, succumbed to injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Friday.
Police said the victims were friends and were also the supporters of the JI. They were sitting outside an estate agency when six armed men riding three motorcycles came close to them and shot them multiple times. Police said Ansari’s father, Hanif was also killed about one year ago and his brother Azhar was killed about six months back in a similar attack.
On the other side, a woman was found dead from Lines Area within the jurisdiction of Brigade police station. The victim has yet to be identified. Police said the victim was shot multiple times after kidnapping by unidentified persons at an unknown place. Later they dumped her body. The body was later shifted to morgue, Sohrab Goth for identification after autopsy.
Separately, a private bank employee namely Naeem Ahmed, 35, was shot dead in North Karachi. Police said two armed men riding a motorcycle shot him dead when he was going home after droping his children to the nearby school in the area. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
In another act of target killing, a supporter of Lyari gang war’s Baba Ladla group was killed when, apparently, the members of Ladla’s rivalry group – Uzair Baloch shot him dead at Rangi Wara in Lyari. Police officials said the incident occurred when the victim identified as Saad Muhammad aka Baba, 55, was busy collecting donation outside a mosque after Friday prayers. He was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi where doctors pronounced him dead.
In another incident, an Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Babar was going home after offering prayer in the area’s mosque when gunmen targeted him and managed to flee in Pirabad police precincts. ASI Babar, resident of Orangi Town, was on promotion training course at Baldia Training Centre. Police handed the body over to the family after autopsy at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.   In another incident of target killing, some gunmen shot dead a man namely Khairul Amin near Korangi-4 Intersection and fled. Police said the incident took place at Ali Akber Goth.  The body was moved to JPMC for autopsy and the motive behind the murder has yet to be ascertained. Separately, some unknown gunmen shot dead one Bashir Ahmed near Qalanderia Chowk within the jurisdictions of Shahrah-e-Noorjahan police station. Police remained clueless about the incident while the doctors at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital confirmed that a dead body was brought to the hospital from Qalanderia Chowk area.
