Eidul Fitr celebrated with religious fervour

KARACHI - The people in Sindh celebrated Eid-ul-Fitar with great religious fervour and traditional zeal on Monday. Hundreds of thousand of faithful, accompanied by their children, thronged the Eidgahs, and mosques to offer Eid prayers. They bowed their heads and showed allegiance to Allah Almighty. Ulema and religious scholars highlighted the significance of Eid day and offered special prayers for the solidarity, integrity, prosperity and progress of the country and Muslim Ummah. The Central Eid congregation in the metropolis was held at Bagh-e-Jinnah (Polo ground), where Acting President Farooq H. Naek, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, City Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal, DCO Karachi Javed Hanif, Federal and Provincial Ministers, Diplomats of Islamic Countries and other dignitaries offered the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer. Talking to the media after offering the Eid prayer, Farooq H Naek said People should support and extend helping hand so that the government should overcome all the existing problems and the country moves forward under democracy. He hoped that difficult times would be over soon as the coalition government under the leadership of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani was leading toward peace and prosperity. Later, Farooq Naek, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and others exchanged Eid greetings with the people and extended their profound greetings to them. However, the big congregations of Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were held at Nishtar Park, Eid-Gah ground North Nazimabad, Aram Bagh Mosque, Kakri Ground, Shah-e-Khurasan Mosque, Jehangir Park Saddar, Faizan-e-Madina, Madni Masjid, Masjid-e-Shaoda-e-Karbala and others places where Khateebs delivered special sermons about significance of the day and stressed the need for Ummahs unity and for ending differences. After Eid prayers, the faithful exchanged Eid greetings. Later, they visited various graveyards and offered Fateha for the departed souls of their relatives. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah offered Eid prayer at Gari Khuda Bux, Larkana, and later, he exchanged Eid greetings with the people. He extended Eid greetings to them. Muttahida Qaumi Movement Rabita committee members, Party legislators including MNAs, MPAs, Senators and other office bearers were offered Eid prayer at Jinnah Ground, adjacent to the MQM Head-quarter Nine Zero and after the Eid prayers they were exchanged Eid greetings with the party office bearers and people and extended their profound greetings to them. Later, MQM Office bearers visited the Yaseenabad and Paposh Nagar graveyards and offer Fateha for the departed soul of the martyred party workers of MQM.
