Ashura observed peacefully across City

KARACHI - Ashura-e-Muharram was observed in the metropolis with respect and religious ardour to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for their great sacrifices in Karbala.The mourning procession of Ashura-e-Muharram was taken out from Nishter Park after a majlis, amid strict security arrangements by the law-enforcement agencies.Several small processions taken out from different parts of the city also merged into the main procession at Naumaish Chowrangi. After the majlis at Nishter park, the mourners offered Namaz-e-Zohrain at Tibet Center and left for Iranian Hussainian Imambargah, Kharadar.Strict security measures were adopted by the law enforcement agencies to ensure peaceful holding of the mourning procession, as heavy contingent of rangers, police and frontier constabulary with the help of other law enforcement agencies made security arrangements.Scouts’ organisations, rescue services’ ambulances, fire brigade and officials of the local administrations also facilitated the mourners. The air surveillance of main Ashura procession was also carried out by the helicopter.The mourners of the procession were allowed to join only from the notified entry points after passing through the walk-through gates and thorough body checking with the help of metal detector. All roads and lanes leading to the route of the procession were sealed by placing containers to prohibit the unwanted entry of vehicles and persons. The entire route of the procession was sealed as shops and markets situated on it were closed before commencement of the procession. The procession was also monitored with the close circuit security cameras which were installed at vintage points on the route of procession.After majlis at Nishter Park the procession proceeded to Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road and passed through the Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil-e- Shah-e- Khurasan M.A. Jinnah Road, Mainsfield Street Preedy Street, Again MA Jinnah Road Boulton Market, Bombay Bazar and Kharadar Nawab Mahabat Khanjee road and culminated peacefully at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah. It is worth mentioning here that the 10th day of the first Islamic month Muharram-ul-haram is observe as ‘Ashura’ every year to commemorate the sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala.MQM LEADERS TAKES PART IN PROCESSION: Deputy Conveners and members of the Rabita Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and elected representatives participated in the main mourning procession of Ashura that started from MA Jinnah Road in Karachi.  Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani and Dr Nusrat Shaukat walked along with the procession with other office-bearers of the MQM, said a statement issued by the MQM here on Sunday. Medical camps were set up by Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation, the charitable wing of the MQM, on the route of the procession.Arrangements were also made to provide food, water, and Sharbet for the mourners. The MQM leaders met the ulema and office-bearers of mourning organisations. They witnessed the security arrangements and inform the ulema and the office-bearers of managing the procession about the arrangements made by the KKF in order to facilitate the mourners. The ulema and the office-bearers of the mourning organizations praised the efforts being made by the MQM chief Altaf Hussain towards promoting inter-faith harmony and the setting up of medical camps and providing facilities for the mourners.Members of the Rabita Committee visited the KKF medical camps and saw the medical assistance being given to the mourners.The KKF ambulances were also moving with the procession and shifting the wounded mourners to the nearest hospitals or medical camps.Members of the Rabita Committee Raza Haroon, Saif Yar Khan, and Saleem Tajik, and In-charge of the Karachi Tanzeemi Committee Hammad Siddiqui along with thousands of the MQM volunteers were also present on the occasion.
