KARACHI - The PPP has succeeded in hunting another big fish from the stronghold of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional in Khairpur as former district nazim Pir Niaz Hussain Shah left the camp of Pir Pagara and announced joining the PPP on Friday.
PML-F leader Pir Niaz Shah announced his decision at a press conference held at the CM Secretariat. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Opposition leader in National Assembly and PPP’s central leader Khurshid Ahmed Shah and Sindh Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro were also present on the occasion.
PML-F leader Pir Niaz was served as an elected district nazim of Khairpur from 2005 which is also the home district of Pir Pagara.
Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah and other PPP leaders welcomed him. He said with the joining of Pir Niaz Shah, the party will get strength in Khairpur district.
Qaim told the media that Sindh government wants local government polls in March next year and it will try to convince the Election Commission of Pakistan in this regard.
He, however, declared if their request of delaying the polls was not accepted then the Sindh government will be ready to go in LG elections as per the schedule on January 18 announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The PPP is ready for LG elections so all the political forces should get themselves prepared in this regard.
This was the second blow to the PML-F in Sindh as earlier its former MPA Rana Abdul Sattar from Sanghar, another stronghold of the party, joined the PPP last week.
The political analysts are of the opinion that following the death of Ali Mardan Shah Pir Pagara, the political influence of the PML-F has reduced in the province. The present chief of the PML-F and spiritual leader of Hurs, Pir Sibghatullah Shah Pir Pagara was inactive in politics in presence of his father Pir Pagara, who authorised Pir Sadaruddin Shah alias Younas Saen (younger brother of present Pir Pagara) to make arrangements and alliances according to the political situation of the province.
Keeping the less influence of the party in mind in present political scenario, the PML-F leaders, much of them are feudal lords, have also change their minds and are switching their political loyalties to the PPP.
The switching of the political loyalty by its big guns in two districts has weakened the PML-F in its strongholds Sanghar and Khairpur districts. The party may face loss in the coming LG elections.
