‘Peaceful Pak-India ties need of the hour’

LAHORE  - Indian journalist Kuldip Nayar and film producer Mahesh Bhatt have called upon the civil society to come forward to play its due role for establishing good relations between Pakistan and India.
Speaking at Meet the Press at Lahore Press Club on Monday, they said peace between the two counties was not possible without solving the basic issues. They said visa issue should be solved as soon as possible and the tourism and trade should be enhanced.
Kuldip Nayar said that media of both sides of the border only highlighted the issues which the establishments wanted to get highlighted. He said BJP had started supports of Muslim in India ahead of general elections. He said media had no right to fan the hatred. He said media and establishment were very powerful in Pakistan. He said the journalists in Pakistan faced many hardships in Marshal Law regimes. He said there was no water issue between Pakistan and India and the only issue was water management.
Nayar said that Kashmir was the issue between the two counties. He said he had chalked out a formula for the solution of Kashmir which was discussed between PM Nawaz Sharif and Inder Kumar Gujral during a meeting.
On the occasion, Mahesh Bhat said that he always raised his voice against the ban of Pakistani TV channels in India. He said he wanted produce movies in Pakistan by exploiting the talent of the country. He said it was very easy but the Pakistan government did not help them to do so. He said it was regrettable that a good number of Pakistani artists were working in India but Indian artists had not been allowed to work.
