Shehbaz hints at amending Women Protection Act

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that his government is ready to make necessary amendments in the Women Protection Act.
He was talking to a representative delegation of prominent ulema of all schools of thought yesterday. He said that government could not even think of legislating against Quran and Sunnah.
”Due importance will be given to the proposals of ulema regarding Bill. The government is ready to make necessary changes in Women Protection Bill and will appreciate guidance of ulema in this regard,” the CM added.
The representative delegation assured full cooperation for amendments in Women Protection Bill. Those who met the Chief Minister included Chairman Punjab Quran Board Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Sialvi, Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, head of Jamia Naeemia Maulana Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Syed Mehfooz Mashhadi MPA, member Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Maulana Muhammad Khan, member Shia Ulema Council Hafiz Kazim Raza, Allama Arif Wahidi, member of Jamiat Ahle Hadith Faisalabad Maulana Yousaf Anwar, Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Allama Anwar-ul-Haq Mujahid of Wifaq-ul-Madaaris Al-Arabia Pakistan, Mufti Qavi of Sheikh-ul-Hadith Dar-ul-Aloom Ubadia Islam & Chairman Seminaries Board and Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad Khateeb of Badshahi Masjid.
Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Mian Ata Maneka, concerned secretaries and senior officers were also present on the occasion.
CHINESE DIPLOMAT MEETS CM: Chinese Consul General Yu Boren met Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here yesterday. Matters of mutual interest, strengthening of Pak-China relations and further promotion of cooperation between China and Pakistan were discussed in the meeting.
The Chinese Consul General condemned Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park tragedy and expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives. He assured full support to government and people of Punjab in this hour of distress and the efforts for elimination of terrorism.
The chief minister said that Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park blast is the worst incident of terrorism, however, this tragedy has further strengthened the resolve of Pakistani nation against terrorism. He said that terrorists have no religion and are enemies of entire humanity.
He said that Pak-China friendship has turned into strong economic ties. He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a great gift of Chinese President and government to Pakistan. He said that work is being carried out vigorously on CPEC projects.
Shehbaz Sharif said that CPEC projects will benefit not only Pakistan but the entire region and economic and trade activities will accelerate in the region.
CM for providing quality healthcare to masses: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting yesterday, which reviewed measures for provision of quality healthcare facilities to the people.
President INVAR Global Health Alexander Razinski expressed interest in investment in 500-bed cardiac hospital in Rawalpindi. Shehbaz Sharif said that provision of quality health facilities to the masses is top priority of the government and the biggest budget for health sector in the history of the province has been given.
He said that all out steps are being taken for uplift of health sector. He said that INVAR Global Health should present a practicable model for setting up cardiac hospital.
Shehbaz Sharif directed health authorities to submit a final model in this regard. Adviser on Health Kh Salman Rafique, former Member National Assembly Hanif Abbasi, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Specialized Health & Medical Education, head of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology Major Gen Retd Azhar Kiyani besides President INVAR Global Health Alexander Razinski attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Turk investors met Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and expressed interest in investment in energy sector in Punjab. Talking on the occasion, the chief minister said that work is being carried out vigorously on energy projects to resolve energy crisis.
He said that besides traditional sources, government is also concentrating on renewable sources of power generation and facilities are being provided on priority basis for investment in energy sector.
The chief minister welcomed the interest shown by Turk investors in setting up solar energy project. He assured all out facilities to Turk investors in this regard.
