Metro train will prove to be a successful project: CM

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train is a unique and unprecedented project in the history of the country and its completion will lead to availability of respectable transport facilities of international standard to masses.
He was talking to a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-N here Sunday. He said that the elements criticising this project unjustifiably are in fact opposing facilities to the masses.
The chief minister said that those criticising public welfare projects are enemies of development and prosperity of the citizens and they do not want elimination of deprivations of poor people.
Shehbaz Sharif said that criticism against metro bus system had ended with the success of the project and the same will happen with the completion of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project.
He said that those opposing public welfare project are not interested in the progress of the country and prosperity of the masses. He said that government will continue the process of public service and new records in this regard will be set under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The chief minister said that funds are a trust of the nation and will be continue to be utilised on the provision of necessary facilities to the citizens. He said that metro bus system and Lahore Orange Line Metro Train projects are splendid example of utilisation of national resources on the people.
He said that metro bus project has been very successful and it is proved by the fact that lakhs of people travel by these buses daily. He said that modern metro bus system has facilitated millions of people in reaching their destination.
He said that Orange Line Metro Train is another splendid gift of Punjab government for the masses. Shehbaz Sharif said that modern means of travel are a basic necessity and communication system is being improved on priority basis in the province. He said that government is implementing the agenda of provision of modern, safe, and economical transport facilities to the masses.
Shehbaz Sharif said that due to unwise and poor policies of the rulers of the province during dictatorial era, the country continued to plunge in a quagmire of problems but they instead of paying attention to resolving issues, indulged in loot and corruption.
He said that no development project was completed in the period of dictatorship and the former rulers made graveyards of corruption in the name of development projects which however, PML-N government turned into monuments to progress.
He said that energy projects as well as other mega projects are being completed expeditiously under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that poverty, ignorance and unemployment will be eliminated from the country and it will be made an Islamic welfare state in the real sense.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif and Chaudhry Ahmed Saeed of Service Industries held a meeting, here Sunday.
Matters of mutual interest and political affairs were discussed during the meeting. The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, efforts are being made for the resolution of problems of the country.
He said that Pakistan is more safe, peaceful and economically strong as compared to that of 2013. Shehbaz Sharif further said that the decisions taken with consensus on important national affairs are yielding positive results.
He said that selfless service to the people is our mission. He said that challenges being faced will be overcome through unity and joint efforts.
Australian HC meets Shehbaz: Australian High Commissioner Ms. Margaret Anne Adamson met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Sunday.
Matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral economic and social relations and increase in cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, livestock, skill development, education and other sectors were discussed in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that there are deep-rooted friendly relations between Pakistan and Australia, however, there is a need for taking steps for strengthening economic and trade ties between the two countries. He said that exchange of delegations between Australia and Pakistan can help in promotion of cooperation in economic and social sectors.
The chief minister said that a conducive atmosphere has been created in Pakistan especially Punjab for investment and there are vast investment opportunities in livestock and agriculture sectors in the province.
He said that government wants to further strengthen relations with Australia in agriculture, livestock, skill development and education sectors. He said that revolutionary reforms have been introduced in education and health sectors in Punjab and youth are being imparted different skills in accordance with market needs.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Australian investors should benefit from the vast opportunities of investment in Punjab and assured that all out facilities will be provided. He said that exchange of business delegations between Pakistan and Australia will also result in increase in investment.
He said that government wants to benefit from the experience and expertise of Australia in agriculture, livestock, dairy development and other sectors.
Australian High Commissioner Ms Margaret Anne Adamson lauded the measures adopted by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif in different sectors. She said that Australia will take steps for promotion of cooperation with Punjab government in different sectors so that bilateral relations could be further strengthened.
