5,000 cops to be deployed on Chehlum


LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir has said that at least 5,000 policemen would remain on high alert in order to maintain peace and harmony on the eve of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and annual Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri.
He said the police would provide security cover to the participants while armed personnel would also be deployed in the particular areas to ensure peace.
According to a police spokesman, the CCPO also ordered special surveillance and checking of all hotels, inns and bus and wagon stands to ward of any possibility of subversion and to ensure law and order on the occasions of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain and Urs Data Sahab. The CCPO said the security arrangements had been finalised and all the entry and exit points of the City would be covered and rooftop deployment would also be made on different routes. The Crises Management Centres would function round-the-clock while a special control room had been set up in the office of the CCPO.
