Motorway police on anti-fleecing drive

LAHORE - The National Highways & Motorway Police, Central Zone, have launched enforcement campaign in order to control overcharging and overloading in public service vehicle on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.

DIG Mirza Faran Baig while making surprise checking of overcharging in buses on national highways near Thoker Niaz Baig said that the central zone would return extra charged amount to passengers and also impose fine on violators.

Baig further directed the patrolling officers to carry out strict enforcement against vehicle owners involved in overcharging and overloading.

“The passengers will be asked about the fare charged from them; and in case of overcharging the money must be got returned to them. Zero tolerance towards overcharging must be ensured, and no PSVs be allowed to hit highways carrying extra passengers,” he ordered.

The DIG asked the sector and beat commanders to personally supervise the patrolling officers and conduct meetings with transporters associations regarding overcharging and overloading.
