Kashmiri food festival begins

LAHORE - A Kashmiri Food Festival intruding variety of Kashmiri dishes kicked off yesterday at Pearl Continental Hotel’s Bukhara restaurant.
The festival was inaugurated by fashion designer Mehmood Bhatti. On the occasion, acting general manager Irfan Nadeem Ch, Faisal Khan, Salman Asif, Col (rtd) Shezad Rafiq and Shakeel Gillani were also present.
Fashion designer Bhatti said that as Kashmir has been an integral and beautiful part of Pakistan, he was happy to see number of Kashmiri dishes here at the food festival. “The trend of introducing food dishes from other parts of the country is good especially when all these dishes are cooked by specialized Kashmiri chef,” he said. The festival’s menu contained some of the traditional and conventional dishes of Kashmir included chicken hareesa, chicken yakhani, tabk maaz, chicken boti, tawa qeema, chicken kabab, chicken karai, gushtaba biryani, chicken Kashmiri qorma and many others.
The food festival was well attended by the people on the starting day. Answering a query, PC hotel officials said Kashmiri food items and delicious dishes which we are introducing here at the festival would be good experience to the people of Lahore. The variety of Kashmiri cuisine at the food festival also included mutton ghustaba yakhni (soup), white rice, beef paya churry, channa masala, halwa and puri and Kashmiri tea.
The food festival will continue until March 17.
