Notice to CCPO over ‘illegal’ raids

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notice to the capital city police chief on a writ petition challenging ‘illegal’ raids on hotels and guest houses.
Khalid Mateen and others filed the petition alleging that police conducted raids on hotels and arrested innocent citizens on false allegations. They said police could not raid at any private place without prior permission of magistrate concerned and issuance of arrest warrants.
Petitioners alleged that police violated the sanctity of four-walls and blackmailed innocent couples. They asked the court to restrain police from conducting raids on hotels and guest houses without obtaining prior judicial orders.
Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik sought reply from the CCPO Lahore and adjourned hearing for next week.
