Adviser stresses E-vaccs implementation, MO presence

LAHORE - Adviser to CM on Health Kh Salman Rafiq has directed the districts to complete forecast of yearly procurement requirements to ensure the availability of all essential medicines at health facilities.
Chairing a meeting of Executive District Officers (EDOs) at the Directorate General Health Services yesterday, the adviser took note of reporting issues regarding E-vaccs and directed ensuring strict compliance and disciplinary action in case of further negligence.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Ali Jan Khan and Director General Health Services Punjab Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed were co-chairs. The EDOs of Punjab’s 36 districts, Chief Minister Roadmap team, Punjab Information Technology Board, Policy and Strategic Planning Unit, Program Managers, UNICEF, WHO and international development partners attended the meeting.
The CM Roadmap team presented data analysis on Key Performance Indicators.
The Primary and Secondary Healthcare secretary said the department may work on devolving more powers to divisions with a view to ensuring that accountability and performance improvement.
The DG Health directed districts to complete and submit the lists of paramedics and allied staff for rationalisation of promotions as per given procedures. He said that disease calendar has been prepared to forecast and plan in advance and asked the districts to plan their preparations on monthly calendar. He also directed the districts to share data of general practitioner so that alerts are shared with them on regular basis.
EPI Director Dr Munir Ahmed asked the authorities to finalise preparations in eight districts - Lahore, Multan, DG Khan, RY Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rawalpindi, (Bahwalapur (Ahmed Pur East) - for the Sub National Immunization Day starting from the 15th of February.
The districts showing big drop outs between BCG (first dose) and measles-1 were directed to improve situation.
The Dengue Control Program presented data analysis of different cities and said that areas repeatedly showing cases have to be specifically focused. The unit stressed that doctors trained for dengue be specially employed for dengue unit.
The situation of H1N1 was also reviewed. The health secretary said adequate stock of Tamiflu tablets was available and vaccination of all hospital staff may be ensured.
