Gov seeks philanthropists’ help for social uplift

LAHORE - Punjab governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana has said without help of the philanthropists, social uplift of the masses cannot be achieved.
“Helping mankind is the biggest worship after worship of Allah, Almighty,” the Governor said while speaking to a seminar organized by Ali Hajvery Free-drug Bank at Governor’s House here yesterday.
The Governor underscored the need for self motivation to take initiative for helping the town-trodden and the suppressed segments of the society. Those are gems of society who selflessly serve the masses and the government is ready to promote their efforts, the Governor said adding, helping others is not only a means of success in this world but also a means of salvation in the world-after.
Rafiq Rajwana said the Islam is a complete code of life wherein rights towards others have been given special emphasis. The rich people side by side enjoying a happy and affluent life also owe obligations to the poor and how much they discharge responsibilities in this regard is a test. The governor said it was heartening that Pakistan society has a huge number of people who are given to selfless service to the people only to earn pleasure of Allah Almighty.
The Governor also appreciated efforts of the Free-drug Bank and assured on behalf of the government every help to them in their efforts to provide free of cost medicines and other facilities to the poor.
CM Adviser to Health, Khwaja Salman Rafiq in his address said availability of the best medical facilities to the people everywhere in the province is the mission of the government for which billions of rupees were being spent.
Head of the Bank Dr Zaheerul Hassan, former Mayor Lahore Khwaja Ahmad Hassan, ex-DG Health, Dr Zahid Pervaz, Secretary Auqaf, Nayyar Iqbal, Secretary SCBA Asad Manzoor Butt and others also spoke on the occasion.
