LHC declares sacking of 20 law officers invalid

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday declared the sacking of seven additional advocate generals and thirteen assistant advocate generals in Punjab as invalid.
Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Umar Ata Bandial heard the petition filed against sacking of the law officers and fresh appointments of 19 others.
During case proceeding, the petitioners’ counsel told court that provincial caretaker government had removed the officers from service in violation of Election Commission’s notification.
He also stated that appointments and removal of government officers was not the mandate of the caretaker government.
On this, Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that gone are the times when government service was ruled by the king.
The court ordered the authorities to reinstate the sacked officials.
