Three lives lost in Lahore road crashes

Three people were killed in road mishaps in different parts of the provincial capital, police sources said on Wednesday.
A cyclist was crushed to death by a rashly-driven van on Shalimar Link Road. The deceased, identified as Pervaiz, said to be a security guard, was on his way home on the two-wheeler when he had the accident. The resident of Changa Manga died on the spot while the van driver fled. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed when his bike ploughed onto a footpath in Faisal Town. Police said the man was returning home when the accident took place. He suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to hospital where he died.  Meanwhile, an injured shopkeeper died in hospital. According to police, Ashraf was brought to hospital after he had an accident on on Canal Road near Gulzar Underpass.
ROBBERIES
Dacoits shot at and wounded a man on offering resistance during a road robbery in the Shahdara police vicinity on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Daniyal, was coming back after withdrawing Rs100,000 from a local bank when two motorcyclists held him up at gunpoint and demanded the cash.
As the man offered resistance, the gunmen shot at and wounded him and snatched away the cash. The injured was admitted to hospital in critical condition. The police are investigating.
In other hits, three robbers barged into the house of Faraz Ahmed in the Manga Mandi police precincts and took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs900,000 after holding the inmates’ hostage at gunpoint.
Armed bandits walked into the house of Sufi Siraj in the limits of Nishtar Colony, held up the family members at gunpoint and escaped after collecting cash and gold ornaments worth Rs800000. The police are investigating.
Four gunmen stormed the house of Shamshad Haqnif in the Johar Town police area and held up the family members at gunpoint. The robbers stanched away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs600000.
STREET CRIMES SURGE
Street crimes have escalated in the area of Tench Bhatta causing many concerns amongst the residents while the police are acting like a silent spectator, according to Online. The inhabitants complained that muggers were roaming freely in the area and snatching valuables from the residents especially in Tanch Bhatta, Peoples Colony and Chungi No 22.
The residents have demanded of CPO Rawalpindi and other concerning authorities to take strict action against the rising incidents of street crimes and also take action against the negligent attitude of the RA Bazaar police.
