Paramedics protest on

LAHORE: Paramedics, vaccinators and lady health workers continued protest outside the Directorate General Health Services yesterday, causing traffic mess in the heart of the city at peak hours.
Unlike the previous days, the protesters allowed officers to enter and leave the office apparently due to fear of action from the government. The protesters disbursed at noon, unlike the previous days when they continued siege of DGHS till the evening. They chanted slogans against the government and in favour of their demands.
Malik Munir, Suleman Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Nasir Gujjar and other leaders said that employees would continue protest till issuance of notification regarding acceptance of all demands.–Staff Reporter

Waste management campaign
LAHORE: The Communication Department of Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) launched an awareness raising campaign at fort Road, Walled City in order to brief local residents and tourists visiting from across the country and abroad about LWMC’s waste collection schedule, use of waste bins and more importantly people’s role in the maintenance of clean environment in communities and public places.
LWMC team comprised of Assistant Managers i.e. Muhammad Umair Khan, Rehman Rashid, Hassan Khalid, Iftikhar Ahmed along with Chairman local Union Council, sanitary workers and social mobilizers carried out an awareness walk passing through narrow streets to major roadsand briefed masses to ensure use of bins placed by the company.–Staff Reporter
While distributing informational pamphlets among residents and tourists inside Walled City, participants were of the view that work of sanitations staff could be reduced by just disposing of waste into bins or use of bags. Proper disposal of waste also helps maintain aesthetics of historic landmarks and health of people.
Moreover, camps were setup for on the spot registration and redress of waste related complaints. A large number of workers and machinery were deployed for sweeping and mechanical washing of major roads, streets and other landmarks of historic significance giving area a clean and healthier look.
